Arlie Everett Plunk, Jr. (89) and Billie Joann Plunk (83) of Bay Springs, Mississippi were both lost in a tragic car accident Tuesday, September 27, 2022, near the town of Roswell, New Mexico.   Their untimely demise ends a 68 year long love story.  They were lifelong members of the Bay Springs Baptist Church.  They were married May 28, 1954 in Hopewell, Mississippi.   Mr. Plunk began his career as a railroad agent with the Gulf Mobile and Ohio Railroad (GM&O) in 1953 and was transferred to the Bay Springs station in 1960.  He was a member of the Bay Springs Lions Club.   He retired from the railroad in May 1993 and was a regional representative with the Brotherhood of Railroad, Airline and Steamship Clerks for another five years.  Mrs. Plunk was a homemaker, NECO employee and for 26 years office/insurance manager for the medical clinic of Doctors Hughes and Hadley.  She retired in June 1986.  They celebrated their 50 ^th Wedding Anniversary together in May 2014.  They enjoyed grandchildren, traveling and square dancing.  Together they visited 46 contiguous states, Mexico, Canada and Alaska.   Their premature passing leaves a great emptiness in the lives they leave behind.   They are survived by their three children: Jack(Erika), Wayne(Wanda) and Bo(Greg), three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. They leave an extended network of nephews, nieces and cousins in Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, 4pm at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, Bay Springs, MS.
