Obituary

After a life of planning and schedules, the unexpected passing of Albert (Al) Prince, came on June 14, 2024. He was born on August 3, 1934 to Albert Jefferson Prince and Hattie Lorene Jarrell Prince in Henleyfield, MS. His early years growing up on the family farm and surrounding woods would provide a lifetime of stories. Albert graduated from McNeil High School Class of 1953 and Pearl River Community College in 1955. From there he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts from Louisiana State University and was a member of the Honor Fraternity Epsilon Pi Tau.

After completing his service in the United States Army (1957-1963), he began a career that took him all over the United States. With expertise in drafting and design, Albert made significant advances to residential and industrial projects including the nuclear field. His personality shaped by fairness and "right" made him a valued manager of staff and professionals for projects and companies too numerous to list.

His retirement from J.A. Jones Construction Company brought him back home to Mississippi where he reconnected with what can only be described as the love of his life, Martha Hadley. Albert and Martha settled in Bay Springs, MS. Never one to be comfortable sitting still, Albert used the time building two houses with the wood he harvested and cut on a portable saw mill. There was always a project- including many handmade desks, chairs and cradles that showcased his woodworking skills. In 1992 he became a Certified Master Clocksmith allowing him to serve hundreds of people by building and repairing old clocks. Albert loved hearing the stories and memories connected to each timepiece and was rewarded with gratitude from customers through his work.

Always present with Albert was a trust in God through a deeply personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He enjoyed learning, teaching and sharing that Truth with everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Jefferson Prince and Hattie Lorene Jarrell Prince, and sisters Ida Bell Stewart and Lexie Mae Smith Sullivan.

Albert is survived by wife Martha Hadley Prince, son Aubrey Lynn Prince (Alicia), daughter, Robin Ann Prince (Dee), and sister Beverly Prince Vernon. He was also blessed with a bonus family of Kevin Hadley (Liz), Suzanne Hadley, Owen Hadley (Kirsten), and Mary Lynn Erwin (John). Grandchildren include Emily Jones (Ethan), Molly Davis (John-Walker), Jamie Doak (Justin), Kevin G. Hadley, Lisa Hadley (Dani), Julia Hadley, Alex Erwin (Maddie), and Amanda Erwin. Great-grandchildren include Amos and Ezra Jones, Henry and Faye Davis, Benjamin and Joseph Searns, and Stevie Jade Hadley. Al was also survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Albert will be greatly missed by family and friends.
