Alton Larry Ishee, 86, of Sylvarena, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, at his residence in Sylvarena, MS. He was born on Monday, July 19, 1937 in Stringer, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Sylvarena Baptist Church with Funeral services at 3:00 PM, with Brother Derek Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Sylvarena with special words from his granddaughter, Megan Clark. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181

Mr. Ishee served in the Navy and retired after 20 years of service to his country. He worked at West Quality Foods, retiring as the Vice-President of Operations after 30 years. He was a pillar of the church, serving as a Sunday school teacher and a deacon for many years at Sylvarena Baptist Church. He also raised registered black angus cattle for many years. He is best known for his immaculate kept farm equipment as well as his starched clothes. The dry cleaners will miss him very much.  Other than work, he also enjoyed deep sea fishing.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael "Mike" Ishee; and by his parents, Melvin, and Hazel Dixon Ishee; and his brother, Talmadge Ray Ishee.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Joan Ishee; his daughter-in-law, Rhonda McFarland Ishee; his daughter, Cheryl  King (Kelvin); his brother, Gerry Ishee (Brenda);  sister, Nancy Todd; his sister-in-law, LaDonn Nelson (Charlie); his brother-in-law, John James (Maria); his grandchildren Carrie Stewart (Ryan), Bret Jones  (Josh), Anna Nicholson (Michael), Joshua Ishee (Allison); Megan  Clark (Nate) and Kelsie King; his great grandchildren, Oliver Clark, Morgan Jones, Trace Nicholson, Connor Clark, Rhett Stewart, Mackenzie  Jones, Mallory  Nicholson, James Ishee, Lillian Stewart and Flora Ishee, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Stewart, Josh Jones, Michael Nicholson, Nate Clark, and Joshua Ishee.

Honorary pallbearers will be the active and inactive deacons of Sylvarena Baptist Church.
