Arlie Modene McKinnon, 86 of White Oak, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at Sardis Baptist Church in the Sardis community. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 10:30 am at Sardis Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Indianola City Cemetery.
Bro. Marvin Phillips, Bro. James Hill, Bro. Isaac Powell, Bro. Arnie Stewart, and Bro. Anthony Grayson will officiate.
Mrs. McKinnon was born at home in the Mississippi Delta. She was a secretary for nursing services at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for over twenty years. She was a fabulous cook and exceptional seamstress. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. McKinnon was a Christian by faith, holding memberships with Trinity Assembly at White Oak, Sardis Baptist Church and Grace and Truth Family Worship Center at the time of her passing. Her last testimony, "He'll go with me all the way."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe W. and Lucille Dorman Smith; brothers, J.L. Smith and Artice Smith; sisters, Willie Booth, Jewel Cockrell and Edna Corley.
Survivors include her husband of almost 69 years, J.T. McKinnon of White Oak; one son, David McKinnon (Glenda) of Florence; two daughters, Sandra McKinnon Phillips (Marvin) of Polkville and Pam Delancey (John) of Bentonia; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Frank Adcock, Russell Daniels, Josh Delancey, Jake Delancey, Noah Powell, Justin Smith, and Trey Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Smith.
Special music will be performed by Mrs. Tracie Adcock.
Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is in charge of arrangements.
