Bernice Holder Cook, 90, of Bay Springs, MS, died Thursday, February 23, 2017, at Jasper General Hospital in Bay Springs, MS. She was born Friday, December 31, 1926, in Smith County, MS.

Visitation will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs in Bay Springs. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2017, at 12:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs in Bay Springs, MS. Burial will follow in Holders Methodist Church Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS. Rodney Sessions, Greg Forbus, and Abram Atchison will officiate. Ms. Bernice was well known for her wonderful cooking, especially her chicken and dumplings, her homemade rolls, and her Italian cream cake. However, her first love was her church, Holders United Methodist, where she had been a member for over fifty years. She always maintained a fierce loyalty to her family.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richmond H. Cook; parents, Burnice B. Holder and Alice Holder; sister, Peggy Lowe; sons-in-law, Jerry Rhodes and Ike George Gray.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Rhodes, Bay Springs, MS; son, Richard Cook (Linda), Pachuta, MS; daughter, Tammy Cook Gray, Bay Springs, MS; grandchildren, Dawn Cook Uzee, Richard Shane Cook, Justin Ryan Rhodes, Stephen Cook Rhodes, Corey Leo Crumpton; great-grandchildren, Taylor Cook, Houston Rhodes; sister, Doris Thomas, Hero, MS; brother, Jake Holder, Ted, MS; special caregiver, Cecelia Millsap.

Pallbearers will be Derek Goodman, Scott Goodman, Dakota Stringer, Doug Holder, Jeff Hairston, and Brody Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Holders Methodist Church Cemetery.
