Bessie Ruth Pierce Bryant
(February 12, 1935 – June 19, 2025)

Bessie Ruth Pierce Bryant, aged 90, of Laurel, MS, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Comfort Care Nursing Center in Laurel, Mississippi. Born on February 12, 1935, in Meridian, Mississippi, Bessie was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.

Bessie found joy in cooking, attending church, working with her flowers and plants, taking care of animals, and most importantly, spending time with her loving family and friends. Her warmth and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bryant; her sons, James Earl Keen, James Larry Keen, Alton Keen, and Donald Keen; her daughter, Janice Ruth Keen; her parents, J.B. and Ida Stevens Pierce; her brother, James David Pierce; and her sisters, Bonnie Pierce Keen and Myrtle Pierce.

Bessie is survived by her nephews, James David Keen (Trisha) of Moss Point, MS, and Thomas Keen (Jill); her daughter-in-law, Roberta Keen; and a host of other family members and friends.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date, with arrangements handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, Mississippi.
