Betty Sue Sims, 85, of Bay Springs, Mississippi, died Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Jasper General Hospital in Bay Springs, MS. She was born Thursday, January 4, 1934 in Moss, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs and the Burial will follow in Spradley Cemetery. Bro. Tony Johnson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601) 764-2181
Betty Sue spent her younger years working at Neco in Bay Springs. She later retired and became an avid farmer and homemaker. Helping her husband with cattle, she enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking and spending time with her family. She was a member of Moss Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jake Sims, first husband Oland Myrick, parents, Jim and Daisy Spradley, brothers, Gerald Spradley, Donnie Ray Spradley, Bobby Lee Spradley, Jimmy Spradley, Roger Dale Spradley, sister, Jeanette Herrington.
Survivors include her nephew whom she considered a son, Shannon 'Tuddy' Spradley (Jacky) and their daughter, Izzy. Brother, Milton Spradley (Judy), Roy Spradley (Sherry), Sonny Spradley (Carol), J. W. Spradley (Effie), Vondell Spradley (Audrey), sisters, Oma Ruth Lindsey, Mary Ann Johnson, Irma Poore, Faye McCarty (Marion), Mildred McCord (Alan), and a very special great-great nephew, River Rogers and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Rogers, Riley Rogers, Delayne Herrington, Lucas Myrick, Justin Sims, and Mason Simmons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Milton Spradley, Roy Spradley and Sonny Spradley.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Jasper General for their kindness, support and love during Ms Sims final days.
