1938. She was preceded in death by parents, George T. (Buck) and Lila Montgomery,

Beverly and M.L. were married April 21, 1956. She graduated from Bay Springs High
School in 1957, and attended classes at Jones County Junior College and worked at
Neco before starting a family. She was later employed as a teacher's aide at Bay
Springs Elementary, then as secretary for Bay Springs High and Elementary for
twenty-two years. She and M.L. retired from the school system in 1992 to begin a
new phase of their lives together as poultry farmers. She also spent many years caring
for her young grandchildren, and even great-grandchildren, and loved spending time
with them. They always put a smile on her face. In her retirement, she enjoyed
working on the chicken farm and vegetable and flower gardening with her husband.
Beverly was a faithful, lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she served
as a Deacon's wife, Sunday school teacher, and as a member of numerous committees
throughout her years. She was a devout Christian who loved her Lord and studied his
word faithfully, sharing her love and knowledge of Him with her children,
grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for, and with, her
husband, M.L. and anyone who knew them, knew if they were in the vicinity near
lunchtime, they would be treated to a wonderful, home cooked meal straight from the
garden. Beverly embodied the words of Paul in Phillipians 2:3, by always humbly
putting others before herself. She loved spending time with her family, cooking for
them, sharing Bible stories with the little ones, and sharing her knowledge of
gardening with them. She also loved her church family and had many close friends
there and in the Antioch community.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Youth Fund of Antioch Baptist Church.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the caregivers who took excellent
care of our mother and grandmother in the latter years during her declining health.
Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
