Billy Harrison, 89 of Raleigh, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Mississippi Care Center of Raleigh, where he had been a resident the last seven years.

Graveside services will be Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 1:00 pm at Rawls Springs Baptist Cemetery in Hattiesburg. Burial will follow the graveside service. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Harrison was a native of Smith County, and was a graduate of Raleigh High School. After high school, Mr. Harrison enlisted in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in Hawaii and Japan. Following his military service, he began a professional career with the USDA as an inspector, where he retired after many years of service. He was an avid NASCAR fan, until the untimely death of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Mr. Harrison was Christian by faith and a member of Rawls Springs Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zola Davis Harrison; his parents, Shelby and Mary Biggs Harrison; brothers, Robert Harrison and Lamar Harrison; sisters, Mary Alice Brown and Mattie Mae Lyle.

Survivors include one brother, Shelby Harrison (Betty); nieces, Lisa Gibson (Stanley), Robin Harrison, Deb Garner, Michelle Bennett and Stephanie Harrison; his step-son, Billy Blanks; step-daughter, Ginger Partlow; step-grandchildren, Chrisy Morris and Dani Haag; step-great-grandchildren, Carter Townsend, Harrison Haag, and Carolyn Haag.
