Obituary

Funeral services for Billy N. Tadlock will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from the First Baptist Church of Raleigh with Rev. Anthony Grayson, Rev. Anthony "Red" Bowen, and Rev. Keith Ramage officiating.  Interment will follow in the Goodwater Cemetery in Smith County under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh.

Billy N. Tadlock was born Thursday, September 1, 1932, in Raleigh. He went to his Heavenly home Friday, March 11, 2022 at the age of 89.

Son of Walter S. Tadlock and Delta Catherine Hegwood Tadlock, Billy was raised in Smith County and was a graduate of Raleigh High School, attended Jones Junior College and furthered his education at the University of Southern Mississippi. The former heavy equipment operator, served the United States Air Force during the Korean War era, which influenced his lifetime of patronage to his country, as a "proud American." Prior to his service to the people of Smith County, Mr. Tadlock was employed at the I. C. Issacs Clothing company. He was elected by the people of Smith County to serve as their Circuit Clerk, for over twenty years, when he retired. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Raleigh, and the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class, where he served faithfully as long as his health permitted. Billy will be remembered for his love of gospel music, convention style and southern gospel, and enjoyed participating in the "Happiness Is" choir at First Baptist Church. Favorite pass times were fishing, gardening and farming.

Mr. Tadlock is preceded in death by his parents, all of his siblings and two nephews.

He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Betty Tadlock;  one son Billy Keith Tadlock, and his wife Kelly,  and one daughter Kathy Tadlock, all of Raleigh; two step-sons: Scotty Cole, and his wife, Lynn of Philadelphia and Greg Cole of Puckett; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a special friend: Mr. Louis Young, also of Raleigh.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scotty Cole, Greg Cole, Brad Cole, Mark Ishee, Mike Thompson and Marty Patterson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam McLaurin, Charlie Crumpton, Danny Arender, Curtis Gable, Joe Talley, Stan Sorey, and Otho Hollingsworth.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, March 14, 2022 at the First Baptist Church and on Tuesday, one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
