Bobbye Jo Read, 93 of Bay Springs, MS passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023 at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. She was born Sunday, January 12, 1930 in Bay Springs, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs on 22 E 4th Avenue, Bay Springs, MS. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM. The burial will take place in Bay Springs City Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181

Bobbye was a published author of poetry. She won several awards from the National Poet Society. Bobbye was also an artist who loved to paint beautiful landscapes. She also enjoyed fishing and crocheting. Bobbye loved animals, and she leaves behind her beloved cat, Precious.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Fleeta Brewer Vanderslice; grandson, Mitchell D. Williams; great granddaughter, Kaylee Read Owens.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Bilbrey (Billy Don); son, Johnny Read (Sarah) and Marsha Read; 9 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Eric Newbury, Billy Don Bilbrey, Dalton Mosley, and Dalton Hester.
