Bonnie Jean Batte Vinzant, aged 92, of Raleigh, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025, at the Mississippi Care Center of Raleigh. Born on September 19, 1932, in Pineville, Mississippi, Bonnie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, daughter, and friend.
Bonnie was the cherished owner and operator of the Dixie Stop, also known as the Batte Store of Raleigh, for over fifty years. Her sweet personality and exceptional cooking skills were well-known and appreciated by all who knew her. She found joy in simple pleasures such as rocking in her chair, collecting rocks, and nurturing babies.
Bonnie was a devoted member of High Hill Baptist Church in Raleigh, Mississippi. Her faith and community were central to her life, and she will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.
She is survived by her children, Calvin Vinzant (Olivia) and June Vinzant Westbrook, both of Raleigh, MS; her grandchildren, Pennie Westbrook Hutchinson (Dink), Alisha Westbrook Hughes (Paul), Karri Westbrook Fulton (Calvin), John C. Vinzant, Onie Vinzant Davis, Sara Vinzant Plunk (Joel), and William Guy Vinzant (Amber Wolf); her great-grandchildren, Jacob Hutchinson (Sarah), Kaitlyn Hutchinson Mason (Aaron), Emily Hutchinson, Aaron Hutchinson, Micah Hughes, Bethany Hughes, J.W. Vinzant, Gracie Vinzant, Eli Vinzant, Joel Vinzant, Bonnie Davis, Tommy Davis, Natalie Plunk, and Mallory Plunk; and her great-great-granddaughters, Katheryn Mason and Oakley Thompson.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. 'Dub' Vinzant; her parents, Guy L. Batte, Sr. and Onie Smith Batte; and her brother, Guy L. Batte, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, 219 Sylvarena Ave, Raleigh, Mississippi. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, with burial to follow at East Side Baptist Church Cemetery in Raleigh, Mississippi. Bro. Anthony Bowen and Bro. Shane Lambert will officiate the services.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Vinzant, Riley Thompson, Micah Hughes, Aaron Hutchinson, Dink Hutchinson, and Guy Vinzant.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Hughes, Jacob Hutchinson, Joel Plunk, and Calvin Fulton.
Bonnie will be dearly missed by her family and friends, who will forever cherish her memory and the love she shared with them.
