Obituary

Camelia Ann "Mickey" Brown, age 82, of Louin, MS, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, at South Central Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family. Born on April 30, 1942, in Louisiana, Mickey later moved to Simpson County, Mississippi. In 1962, she married D. Rex Brown, and together they built a family and a life in Louin, where they owned Rex Brown grocery for many years. Mickey and Rex shared 29 years of marriage until his passing in 1991.

Mickey was a devoted member of Antioch Baptist Church and was known for her strong work ethic, independence, and passion. She was a classy, fashionable, and dignified lady, as well as a kind-loving mother and grandmother.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister. Mickey is survived by her two sons, Kevin and Abby Brown, and Scott Brown and Nicki Hester of Louin; her grandchildren, Holden Brown, Rex Brown, Hannah and Blake Trigg, Haylee and Kurt Shannon, and Gandy Hester; and her great-grandchildren, Remi and Rivers Trigg, and Palmer and Layton Shannon.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs, with funeral services to begin at 3:00 PM. Interment will follow at Ted Baptist Church Cemetery. Brothers Steve Pouncey, James Shumaker, and Keith Boggan will officiate the services. Pallbearers are Holden Brown, Rex Brown, Blake Trigg, Kurt Shannon, Chris Land, and Wayne Ainsworth.
