Debbie Ashley Hinton, aged 72, of Bay Springs, MS, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. Born on October 13, 1952, in Jackson, Mississippi, Debbie dedicated 30 years of her life to shaping young minds as a first-grade teacher, leaving a lasting impact on her students and former students. She cherished the outdoors, spending her time tending to her flowers and cutting grass. Her grandbabies were her pride and joy, and she was a proud grandmother.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Jim Hinton; her daughter, Natasha Nelson and her husband Cory; her mother, Patsy Ashley; her brother, Mike Ashley and his wife Melisa; her stepdaughters, Kristen Hinton and Leann Moore; her grandchildren, Macey Nelson, Abrie Nelson, Caleigh Gallisby, and Hayden Cockrell; her step-granddaughter, Ellie Grace Moore; and her great-granddaughter, Evelynn Faye Nelson. She was preceded in death by her father, Junior Ashley; her son, Chris Cockrell; and her grandparents, Lee and Etoil Hancock, and Wilson and Thelma Ashley.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM at Liberty Baptist Church in Raleigh, MS, followed by funeral services at 1:00 PM. Burial will take place in Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Raleigh, Mississippi. Bro. Stanley Doggett and Bro. James Sprayberry will officiate the services. Arrangements are being handled by Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs.
