Dennis Harper Everett, 88, entered his peaceful heavenly home from Jasper General Nursing Home in Bay Springs, MS, January 4, 2021.
A private family graveside service was held at Pine Hill Cemetery, in Enterprise, MS January 5, 2021. David Phillips, treasured family friend officiated.
Born September 23, 1932, at Enterprise, MS, Mr. Everett graduated from Pachuta Public School in 1950, and subsequently attended Jones County Junior College and Mississippi State University. He joined the Army Reserves in 1952 completing boot camp at Fort Pickett, Virginia, and later enlisted in the U.S. Army serving a three-year tour of duty with the medical infantry from 1953-1956 in Erlangen, Germany.
He was retired from the Soil Conservation Service, Jasper County, MS, where he was employed as a soil technician from 1962-1991. Following Federal retirement, he worked with the Mississippi State Forestry Commission from 1991-1997.
A lifelong gifted and avid farmer, Mr. Everett especially enjoyed cultivating huge vegetable gardens for family which he graciously shared with extended family and friends. He had been a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church since 1964.
He joins in heaven his parents, Thomas Byrd (Pete) and Lillian Kathryn Kidd Everett; his daughter, Amy Amanda Everett; and his brothers, Douglas Lavelle Everett and Sydney Allen Everett.
He is lovingly survived by his wife of 64 years, Pansy Nicholson Everett, of Bay Springs; daughter, Jeanie Everett Dew, of Bay Springs; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Michael Everett and Dianna Smith Everett, of Forest; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Everett Ostrander and Mark Alden Ostrander, of Bay Springs; grandchildren, Leah Shae Simmons (Fernando) Chinchilla, of Flowood; David Brett (Mary Brooke) Dew, of Brandon; Kristen Elisa Everett (Bennie) Hutchinson, of Homewood; Kayla Nicole Everett (Cody) Mason, of Starkville; and Hunter Michael Everett, of Forest. He is also survived by great grandchildren, Lillian Carter Hutchinson and Easton Lee Hutchinson, of Homewood, and Ellie Rain Mason, of Starkville; his sister and brother-in-law, Bettye Claire Everett Hayes and George Hayes, of Meridian; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Peggy Nicholson Herring and Marvin Herring, of Stonewall; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made to Pine Hill Baptist Church, 1734 CR 331, Enterprise, MS 39330 or Bay Springs Baptist Church of Bay Springs, MS.
