Obituary

Don Michael Graham, 77, of Stringer, MS died Friday, October 27, 2017 at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born Thursday, October 03, 1940 on the Archie Massey farm near Soso, MS.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs in Bay Springs. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 12:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs in Bay Springs, MS. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Stringer, . Bro. John Davis will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601)764-2181

Pall bearers are Jerry Moore, Doug Graham, Ronnie Welborn, Paul Welborn, Alan Hendrix, Tim Upton, Chuck Graham and Casey Graham.

Don graduated from Stringer High School in 1958 and played on the Mississippi All-Star football team. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1963 with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and began his career as an IE for the Southern Railroad in Tennessee and northern Alabama. He then worked for the Boeing Company in Huntsville, AL and at the Mississippi Test Facility near Bay Saint Louis, MS. In 1967, he joined Neco in Bay Springs as a manufacturing engineer and made his home on the family farm near Stringer. He remained with Neco until 1986, and finished his engineering career with Peavey Electronics in Meridian, retiring in 2002.

Don was a life-long avid gardener, a good steward of the land, and a cattle farmer in retirement. One of his favorite pastimes was watching football. Don was a member of Edon Baptist Church and was devoted to his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Ladell Graham, and his mother, Hettie Mae (Massey) Graham.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Alma Iona (Holder) Graham, son Don Michael Graham, Jr., son Stephen Mark Graham, daughter Donna Marie (Graham) May, son-in-law James May, two grandchildren: Marshall Levi May and Graham Nathaniel May, a sister, Dale Graham Harris (Sam), and a brother, Calvin Terry Graham (Pam).
