Mrs. Dorothy Leigh Johnson, age 81, passed away on April 5, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Dorothy was born in Danville, VA.  She met her husband J.T. in Danville and then returned to Raleigh, MS and was married.  She raised six children, three step-children, and helped raise her grandchildren.  She was known as a motherly figure to many, in which she was known as "Mama Dot".  Her hobbies included sewing and gardening, especially her flowers.  She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in which she loved dearly.  She will truly be missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her children: Regina Dollar (Jackie); Tim Johnson;  Rickey Johnson;  Lisa Johnson Moore; Irene Rayner (Allen); step-children; Gale Tolbert (Billy), Roger Johnson, and Marilyn Johnson; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, Paul Johnson; sister-in-law; Clara Johnson; a host of nieces and nephews; and her dog "Charlie".

She was preceded in death by her husband, James "J.T." Johnson; parents, Clarence and Mable Lyle; daughter, Tammie Renee Ogletree.

Visitation will be held Sunday, April 7, 2019 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Johnson will be held on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 11:00 AM  at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh with Bro. Rusty Stockman and Bro. Herb Nettleton officiating. Burial will follow at Johnson Cemetery in Raleigh.

Pallbearers will be Rickey Johnson; Wayne Ogletree; Joey Kennedy; Karl Parker; Kevin Johnson; John Douglas Dixon.

Honorary pallbearers are Keith Parker and Patrick Parker.
