Douglas Fairbanks Hammons, 90, of Pineville, Mississippi, passed away, at home Saturday May 15, 2021 in Pineville, Mississippi. He was born Thursday, February 26, 1931 in Pineville, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Leaf River Baptist Church in Pineville, MS. Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Leaf River Baptist Church and the Graveside service will follow at 2:45 PM in the Pineville - Leaf River Cemetery. Bro Danny Dickerson and Terry Roberts will officiate the services. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
Douglas was an avid outdoors man who loved cutting hay and working with his cows. He raised chickens for twenty-nine years. He loved riding motorcycles with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Elvin and Ada (Hill) Hammons; by his brothers, Elvin Hammons, Jr., Rothel Hammons, Ottis Ray Hammons.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Wanda Hammons; his son, Doug Hammons (Sondra), his daughters, Carmen Crenshaw (Cody), Sherrie Davis (Randy), and his grandchildren, Cody Davis, Cole Davis, Chris Hammons, Kasie Boykin, Mandy Wilson, Ada Lynn Crenshaw, Layla Crenshaw; along with 8 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Charlotte Bynum (Bob), Virginia Ellett (Tommy), Golda Darby, Josephine Jones; his sister-in-laws, Sue Hammons, and Ellen Hammons.
Pallbearers will include Cody Davis, Chris Hammons, Presley Boykin, Reed Boykin, Bobby Wilson, and Joshua Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Tally and Richard Bell.
