Emily Jo Keyes Dyess
(June 17, 1928 – January 29, 2025)


Emily Jo Dyess, aged 96, of Louin, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Jasper General Hospital in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Born on June 17, 1928, in Louin, Mississippi, Emily was a cherished member of her community and a devoted member of Louin Baptist Church in Louin, Mississippi.

Emily was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She married the love of her life, Billie S Dyess, on September 4, 1948, and together they raised their children in Louin, Mississippi, instilling in them values that last a lifetime. Emily enjoyed cooking, fishing, crocheting, and most of all, spending time with her family.

She is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Dyess (Maxine) and Joe Dyess (La Donnia); five grandchildren, Bill Dyess (Tammy), Jason Dyess (Christy), Heather Dyess Horn (Gabe), Angel Naomie Austin, and Kolt Austin (Alison); eleven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of sixty-four years, Billie S Dyess; her parents, Clarence Jackson Keyes and
Emmie Catherine Harrington Keyes; her brothers, L.C. Keyes and Clarence Franklin Keyes; and her sister, Hilda Rose Keyes Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Stockyard Cowboy Church, 4034 Hwy 15, Louin, Mississippi. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location, with burial at Louin Cemetery in Louin, Mississippi. Bro. Homer Kemp and Bro. Dean Cook will officiate. Special music will be performed by Mr. Bill Dyess, Mrs. Summer Jeffery, and Ms. Toni Ezell. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181

Pallbearers will include Gabe Horn, Tanner Horn, Jason Dyess, Dustin Dyess, Kolt Austin, and Nathan Jeffery, with honorary pallbearers Stacy Dyess, Bill Dyess, Stephen Wilson, and Stanley Wilson.

Emily will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to inspire her family and friends.
