Evelyn Carole Moss Hester, 82 of Stringer, Mississippi, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at Jasper General Nursing Home in Bay Springs, Mississippi.  She was born at home on April 16, 1940, in southwest Jasper County, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs.  A graveside service will follow at 10:30 AM at Providence Cemetery in Stringer.

A lifelong resident of Stringer, she was a graduate of Stringer High School, and Hatfield's Beauty School in Laurel. She worked as a hair dresser for many years, and was also employed later in life as a supervisor at Steven's Sportswear in Taylorsville.  Carole had a deep love for her family, and felt the importance of sharing times together with them.  She grew up as a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Laurel, and later attended Stringer Baptist Church in Stringer for over 50 years. Tending to a variety of beautiful plants in her many flower beds was her favorite past time, and she was also very artistic.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lex and Nobie Moss, daughter Tammye Hitt, and two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Stevens and George Osborne.

Survivors include two sons, Delayne Hester (Tonya), Keith Hester (Terry); five grandchildren, Brante Hester (Leslie), Brande Medved (Martin), Seth Hester (Mallorie), Taylor Hester and Mandy Hester; six great-grandchildren, Philip Medved, Adrian Medved, Emilia Medved, Wes Hester, Lydia Hester, Madelyn Hester; two sisters, Janie Osborne and Joan Stevens ; nephew, Ros Osborne (Elizabeth); great-nephew, Everett Osborne; caregiver and special friend, Henrietta Bender.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Jasper General Nursing Home for their kindness and support during this difficult time.

Pallbearers will be Brante Hester, Seth Hester, Rodney Jenkins and friends.

Honorary pallbearer will be Ros Osborne.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
