Frances Thorne Smith, 80, of Raleigh, MS, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 15, 2019, at Simpson General Hospital. She was born April 16, 1938 to Roy and Lillian Thorne.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Jones County Junior College in 1993 at the age of 55, becoming a Registered Nurse. It was then she started her twenty year nursing career at Simpson General Hospital where her co-workers were not friends, they were family.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Lee (Randy) of Polkville, MS; and grandchildren, Ben Lee (Gretchen), Adriane Brannan (Bubba), Hannah Smith, Allie Mullins (Stephen), Faith Smith, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Carl Smith and her sons, Gary Smith and Phil Smith.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2:00 PM with public visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at Sardis Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tim Robertson and Bro. Pete Pearson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is in charge of arrangements. (601) 782-4544
