Gary Cockrell, 75, of Louin, Mississippi, died Saturday, August 14, 2021, at his residence in Louin, Mississippi. He was born Tuesday, July 16, 1946 in Bay Springs, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs and the burial will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery. The funeral celebrants, Mrs. Bonnie Welch, Mr. Rufus J. Rayner and Mr. Charles B. Holder will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601) 764-2181

Gary was truly a jack of all trades. He enjoyed everything from carpentry to welding. He spent much of his time trail riding with the Smith County Wagon Train. He enjoyed team roping, race cars, and even liked to go mud boggin every once in a while. He loved his family dearly, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Cockrell, his parents, L.N. and Alma Cockrell and one sister, Rachel Hosey (Hilton).

Survivors include his daughters, Sonya Moody (Sam) and Tina Gamble (John), his granddaughters,  Nicole Denham (Blake), Kimberly Moody and her fiancé, Austin Mullins, Hollie Martin (Jimmy), Brooklyn Gamble (Ryan Thames), and Scarlette Gamble, great granddaughter, Alaina Martin, great grandsons, Cooper Martin and Maverick Denham as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Pinky Knotts, Pete Terry, Rory Holder, Nathan Myrick, Steve McMullan, Jason Brown, Robert Goins, and Nathan Stringer.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Brown, Bo Red Smith, Buddy Holder, Jimmy Martin, Blake Denham, Austin Mullins, Ryan Thames, Robert Smith, Bonnie Welch, Kelly Barry and Nicole McKenzie.
