After serving a stint in the Army National Guard, Glenn pursued his career as a hairstylist at the Mississippi Barber Academy in Jackson, MS. He worked at several shops throughout his career including Haden's Barbershop, "The Style Shop" in Newton and Bay Springs, and finally completing his career of 55 years at McNeil's Hair Design. Glenn was the Redken Hair Products representative, where he taught hair design in seminars in California, and was offered a position in salons in Paris, France. He was interested in many passions which he perfected in his own way, which included fishing, Cajun cooking, playing bass fiddle in the bluegrass band, coon hunting, raising coon dogs, recording family histories/genealogy, and growing his own tobacco. Glenn unashamedly shared his faith in Jesus Christ, preaching God's grace to anyone that he encountered. He often joked that no customer ever left his shop without first hearing the Gospel. He loved his wife, family, and grandchildren passionately, as well as loving life, joking, and singing with all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Almond and Dorothy Bourilea McNeil.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Horn McNeil of Bay Springs, MS; son, Glenn "Luke" McNeil, Jr.; daughter, Lisa Songy (Kirk); brothers, Mike McNeil (Susan), Philip McNeil (Diane) and Joe McNeil (Kathy); grandchildren, John Matt Musgrove, Clare Musgrove, Erica Musgrove, Madison McLaurin (Hunter), Piper McNeil and Paisley McNeil; great granddaughter, Danyella Brees McLaurin and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Hawk Hendry, Jim Parker, David Horn, Barron Horn, Glen Musgrove, and Nick McNeil.
Honorary pallbearers will be Buster Charpentier, Jamie Holmes, Grady James, Ed McNeil, Floyd Clinton, Sherman Livingston, Steve Aycock, Randy Corley and Wiley Phillips.
