Herman Doyle Sullivan, age 88 of Sylvarena, MS, passed peacefully February 25, 2017 at the Northwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Bossier City, LA. Visitation will be Saturday March the 4th from 10-11:30AM at Sylvarena Baptist Church in Sylvarena, MS. The service will follow at 11:30 AM. Internment will be at Bethany Cemetery in Sylvarena, MS, immediately following the service. Pastor Rusty Stockman will officiate.
Herman Doyle "Lightning" Sullivan was born August 20, 1928 in Sylvarena, MS. He served his country in the armed forces and was a farmer, successful cattleman and master carpenter. He loved his family, the community of Sylvarena and his home church Sylvarena Baptist.
He is survived by his son, James Fred Sullivan (Connie), his grandchildren, Chris Sullivan (Whitney) and Candace Dunigan (Chris) and three beautiful great granddaughters, Claire Elise Dunigan, Olivia Grace Sullivan and Hanna Renee Sullivan.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cecil Sullivan, parents, Fred and Elma Sullivan, sister, Lonelle James and brother, Robert Sullivan.
Pallbearers are Robert Ainsworth, Chris Dunigan, Douglas Holder, John James, Jay Pilgram, Chris Sullivan, Eric Sullivan, and Jason Womack.
Honorary pallbearers are Jerrol Ainsworth, Paul Brown, Jerry Houston, David James, Kenneth Jams, Larry James, Lex James, and Mack Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers the family request a donation be made to the Sylvarena Baptist Church Kitchen Fund (in Sylvarena, MS.)
