Hubert Lester Walker, 84 of Bay Springs, MS passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, MS. He was born Sunday, November 3, 1940 in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church Of Bay Springs located at 371 Hwy. 18, Bay Springs, MS; with funeral services to follow. Burial will follow in Bay Springs City Cemetery in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Rev. James Sprayberry, Rev. Keith Ulmer, and Bro. Brody McCool will officiate.
Hubert was born in Lake Charles, LA. After graduating from C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, he started his first job with Southwestern Power and Electric company as a payroll timekeeper. After attending business college, he worked his way up in construction to be a project manager for Babcock & Wilcox and Riley Construction. During his career he travelled the country doing teardowns and rebuilds of powerplant boilers, two of those were nuclear. Fifty years ago, he discovered Bay Springs and decided to make it his home. He enjoyed eating brim and catfish. His favorite activity was taking his wife Margie out to dinner on Saturdays, and Fins was their favorite restaurant. He was a proud Christian and member of the First Baptist Church of Bay Springs. In retirement he held the title of Mr. Tea and provided project management expertise in tea brewing for his church's meals.
He is survived by his wife Margie Walker (Wright), his children James, Sharon, Sterling, Jared, and Cecil, his brother Donny and his wife Becky, and at last count 16 grandkids and 13 great grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl R. and Neomie P. Walker.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Thornton, Bobby Hinton, Shane Boyd, Chase Folks, David Phillips, and Tommy Boyd.
