Jack S. Aycock, 82, of Bay Springs, MS died Wednesday, November 02, 2016 at Jasper General Hospital in Bay Springs, MS. He was born Sunday, May 06, 1934 in Jasper County, MS.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 04, 2016 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 05, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, MS. Burial will follow in Bay Springs City Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS. Bro. Jack had a varied career from four years in the United States Air Force in the fifties to shipyard work and even a few years alongside his father at Aycock Ford Tractors; but his love of airplanes settled him into Mississippi Air National Guard 186 TRG in Meridian, MS from the mid sixties to the mid eighties when he retired.
Jack was an also an avid lover of Bluegrass music. He hosted his own Bluegrass show, Longhorn Bluegrass Festival, at his home in Bay Springs. He also played the upright bass in his band, and even picked around on the banjo from time to time. He was called upon by his peers to emcee several bluegrass music events in various states.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dot Shepard Aycock, parents, Willie S. Aycock and Doris Tisdale Aycock, brother, Curtis Aycock.
Survivors include his wife, Vida Dare Aycock, Bay Springs, daughter, Dale Stringer (Gary), Bay Springs, son, Steve Aycock (Mandy), Bay Springs, daughter, Diane Vickers (Ben), daughter, Lynn Green (Mike), grand children, Stephanie White, Michael Aycock (Lauren), Lindsay Ainsworth (Jeremy), Megan Aycock (Josh), Tyson Knight, Gage Knight, great-grand children, Morgan White, Josh White, sister, Janell Bassett (Tommy), Dothan, AL, brother, Ted Aycock (Emily), Vancleave, sister, Ann Smith (Jimmy D.), Bay Springs, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Nix, Jimmy Herrington, Doug Rogers, Hugh Allen Myers, Steven Myers, Jon Nester.
