Obituary

Jack Montgomery, 92, of Bay Springs, Mississippi, died Thursday, June 6, 2019 at Covington County Hospital in Collins, Mississippi. He was born Friday, March 25, 1927 in Jasper County, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church and the Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. Bro. Steve Pouncey will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601) 764-2181

Jack retired from NECO/Sunbeam as a mechanic. He was a jack-of-all-trades, between raising horses and cows, to logging and being a farrier. He loved spending time with family and would help anyone in need. Jack was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacons until he became ill. He was a proud veteran of WWII. He loved being outdoors, gardening, being with family and keeping the church cemetery lawn maintained. He especially enjoyed sitting in his chair in front of his house, waving as people drove by when he was not busy doing something else.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Mellis Montgomery, brother, LB Montgomery, brother-in law, Truman Phillips.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years Maggie Montgomery, daughter, Brenda Howell, son, Anthony Montgomery (Denise), grandchildren; Ryan Howell, Timothy Howell, Dustin Howell, Nina Montgomery Weissinger, great-grandchildren, Austin Howell, Kaylee Howell, Paisley Weissinger, Hazle Weissinger, Hannah Howell.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Howell, Timothy Howell, Dustin Howell, Arrington Rhett, Jonathan Pippen and George Sanders.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacon body from Antioch Baptist Church.
