Janie A. Ordway, 73, of Bay Springs, Mississippi, died Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Wesley Merit Health in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She was born on November 18, 1946 in Jasper County Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home with Burial to follow in Heidelberg City Cemetery. Bro. James Sprayberry will officiate. Janie was a member of Bay Springs United Methodist Church and was a teacher for 43 years. She dedicated her life to educating children; besides being a mom to her daughter and a loving grandmother, it was her true calling in life.

She was preceded in death by her father, Britton Read Sr. and mother, Laverne Read.

Survivors include her daughter, Sara Nichols (Sean Hester); granddaughter, Emily Nichols; brother, Britton Campbell Read Jr.; nephew, Britton Campbell "Tray" Read III (Elizabeth); niece, Mary Campbell Viney (Chris).

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dale Smith, Tray Read, Billy Earl Johnson, Barkley McFarland, Ricky Ruffin, Sam Sumrall, and Bobby Phillips.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Bass, Dr. Lavon Moss, Chad Odom, Denny Read and Robert Read.
