Our beloved mother, Peggy Jean Davis Harrison, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2026. She was born August 10, 1927, in Rosehill, MS. She was born to Leroy Dace Davis and Elsie Maude Land Davis who preceded her in death.
Jean graduated from Rose Hill High School. As a life-long learner, she graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a teaching degree and taught at Stringer High School and Bay Springs High School. In Bay Springs she was a faithful member of Bay Springs Methodist. Later, she served as a member of Poplar Spring Methodist Church in Meridian. Jean was always a willing helper to others.
Fulfilling many roles, Jean was a dear friend, but her consummate role was being a cherished mother and grandmother. Called "Mama, Mother, Gran, and GG" she was known for her warmth and love. Her home was filled with love, laughter, and a revolving door for friends of her children and grandchildren. She was a comforter, a guide, and always a home for her adoring family.
Leaving a lasting impact, Jean is survived by her sister, Judy Kennedy of Nashville, TN. Her legacy and lasting impact will be carried on by her children Harry Harrison (Regina) of Oxford, Karen Wiliams of Brandon, and Bettye Carpenter (Bill) of Houston, TX. Her devotion will be remembered with love by her grandchildren Nick Harrison, Josh Harrison (Renea) Meredith Dunham (Ragan), Ashley Hearn (John), and Andy Williams (Colby).
Jean is survived by great-grandchildren Morgan, Grayson, and Madison Dunham; John Nichols Johnson; Caroline, Jack and Harrison Hearn; Hannah and Drew Williams; Reese Stoekman and Rylee Sojourner.
Kim Henry (Joe), Ken Kennedy (Susan) and John Kennedy (Kris) will remember her as a cherished aunt.
Colonial Chapel of Bay Springs will provide funeral arrangements. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM with interment taking place in Bay Springs cemetery. Bro. Kenneth Owen will officiate.
If you desire to make a memorial gift, the family suggests Aldersgate Retirement Community, 6600 Poplar Springs Dr., Meridian, MS, 39305. May the Lord be with you all during this time.
