Jimmy Cooper Stringer, age 86, and a resident of Louin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Friday, October 6, 2023 at his home.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 3:30 pm at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Stringer. Interment will follow the graveside service. Bro. Keith Ulmer will officiate.
He was a native of Jasper County and a graduate of Stringer High School. He was a carpenter, millwright, taxidermist, and electrician. He served his country in the Army National Guard and the United States Navy Reserve. Mr. Cooper was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved the outdoors. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who took pride in teaching his outdoor skills to his children, grandchildren and friends. He was a Christian by faith and a member of the former Stringer Methodist Church. He lived life to the fullest and loved people.
He was preceded in death by his parents, F. C. and Maudie Lee Anderson Stringer.
Survivors include his wife of almost 67 years, Bonnie Raye Stringer Stringer of Louin; daughters, Jimmie "J.J." Lynn Butler (Thomas) of Louin, and Deborah Anne Stringer of Louin; brother, Joe Stringer (Rachel) of Stringer; grandsons, Brandon Thomas Butler (Beth) and Matthew Tyler Butler (Carly); granddaughter, Alexandra Lee Henderson (Tye); great grandchildren, Jace Wellington Winstead, Presley Thomas Butler, Landon Denson Butler, Hadley-Anne Katherine Henderson, Haisley Joe Henderson, Maylynn Raye Butler and one on the way; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Butler, Tyler Butler, Jace Winstead, Tye Henderson, Tyrone Butler, Andy Hancock, Joey Stringer, and Nathan Dykes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian DeLisle, Greg Buquet, Jody Winn, Dalton DeLisle and Jim "Chico" Grubba.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi, in honor of Presley Thomas Butler, at www.msdiabetes.org or Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children, in memory of Seth Harris, at http://childrenshospital.umc.edu/
