Funeral services for John Roscoe "Jack" Hosey will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery at Stringer. Burial will follow the graveside service with military honors provided by the United States Navy Funeral Honor Guard. Bro. Buddy Jennings will officiate.
Mr. Hosey, age 102, of Bay Springs, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Jasper General Nursing Home. Jack was born Tuesday, June 29, 1920 in Stringer. He was a graduate of Stringer High School and Jones Junior College. He served his country in the United States Coast Guard and the United States Navy, and was a proud World War II Veteran, telling others of his service time while overseas. He was an avid farmer with a strong work ethic. He had a great sense of humor and had a nickname for most everyone he knew. He loved people and people loved him. He will be missed by many, and his legacy will be remembered for generations to come.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 73 years, Helen Ann Sahno Hosey; his parents, E.B. and Pearlie Parish Hosey; brother, Frank Hosey; sisters, Mary Mullen (Red), Virginia Renauld (Jack) and Hazel Chisholm (Johnny) and son-in-law, Larry Hancock.
Survivors include one son, John Paul Hosey (Debbie) of Pachuta; two daughters, Judy Myrick (Paul) and JoAnn Hancock, both of Stringer; seven grandsons, Patrick Myrick, Jonah Myrick, John Paul Myrick (Lacey), John Thomas Hosey (Rachael), Jake Hosey, Joshua Hosey and Tony Hancock; four granddaughters, Holly Myrick, Laura Kestenbaum (Troy), Kim Snow (Chris) and Heather Pierce (Kevin); fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Ann Buckley (Norvel) and one sister-in-law: Bonnie Hosey; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Myrick, Tony Hancock, John Paul Myrick, Jake Hosey, Joshua Hosey, and John Hosey.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs.
Special music will be performed by Marilyn Garner.
