John Willis Wilson, 85 of Bay Springs, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel. He was born Saturday, January 29, 1938 in Stringer, Mississippi.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 10:00 am until 10:50 am at Union Baptist Church in the Old Taylorsville community. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 am at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Burial will follow in Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Nelson Crozier, Bro. Leon Carmical, and Bro. Adam Sloan will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wilson was a native of Jasper County and was a graduate of Stringer High School. He was a dairy, beef cattle, and chicken farmer. He was a member and deacon of Union Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mrs. Peggy Wilson; his parents, Willie J. and Ruby Myrick Wilson and brother, Bud Wilson; brothers-in-law, Lowery Simmons, Hugh Cutrer, and Dan Thomas.
Survivors include his sons, Judson Wilson (Carolyn) and Jon Wilson; daughters, Chris Holder (Chuck) and Fran Kalusche (Mike); brother, Charlie Wilson (Margie); sisters, Jimmy Simmons, Rose Thomas, Cora Jo Blackwell (Charles) and Becky Scarbrough (Pete); sister-in-law, Petra Wilson; grandsons, Charlie Holder (LeAnne), Will Kalusche and Tommy Kalusche; granddaughters, Jessie Campbell (Ben), Mallory Williams (Spencer) and Katie Kalusche; great grandchildren, Julie Campbell, Hunter Campbell, Carter Jo Holder, Griff Williams, Annistyn Holder and Asher Williams; a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Holder, Spencer Williams, Ben Campbell, Will Kalusche, Tommy Kalusche, and Hector Gonzalez.
