Obituary

Johnny Sanders Shelby, 87, of Ridgeland, MS died Saturday, April 08, 2017 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. He was born Thursday, January 16, 1930 in Smith County, MS.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs, MS. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS. Bro. Steve Street and Bro. Keith Gordon will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601)764-2181

Johnny retired from Eaton after 32 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Shelby, parents, Essie and Donna Mae Shelby and brothers, Cleo Shelby, Cecil Shelby, Ledrew Shelby and Greer Evans Shelby.

Survivors include his sons, Mitchell Shelby (Sheryl), Madison, MS and Ronnie Shelby (Krista), Mendenhall, MS; grandchildren, Christopher Shelby, M.D, Ocean Springs, MS; Allison Reid (Bradley), Brookhaven, MS; Ashley Dees (Chad), Madison, MS and Michael Shelby, Pascagoula, MS; great grandchildren, Cooper and Zachary Reid, Brookhaven, MS; Walker, Weston, and Grant Shelby, Ocean Springs, MS; and Stella Dees, Madison, MS; and sister-in-laws, Mary Shelby, Raleigh, MS and Doris Shelby, Natchez, MS.

Pallbearers will be Keith Shelby, Wayne Stonecypher, Duane Shelby, Robin Shelby, Joe Larry Shelby and Ronnie Ivey.

Honorary pallbearer will be Stan Carr and Doug Bates.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trace Ridge Baptist Church in Ridgeland, MS.
