Joyce Smith Poole, 78, of Sylvarena, MS, peacefully passed to her Heavenly home on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at South Central Regional Medical Center.  She was born May 8, 1946 in Decatur, Alabama, to parents Leon and Marvaline Smith. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church of Bay Springs.  She was very devoted to her church where she played the organ for 30 years, was involved with WMA, and loved to sing in the choir.  She loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids so very much.  She was always there to support and brag about all of their accomplishments.  She will be missed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Marvaline Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Ferrell Poole; daughter, Beth Sullivan (John); son, Randy Matthews; grandchildren, Lee Sullivan (Heather), Rebekah McCarty (Kolton), Cody Sullivan (Kaely), Kyle Matthews; great grandchildren, James, Mya Beth, & Jayse; sisters Betty Shriver, Lori Judd (Dave), and a host of family, nieces, nephews and special friends.

A private memorial service will be held at later date. She will be buried at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS.
