Karen Jane Smith, 66 of Stringer, MS passed away Monday, January 1, 2024, at her residence in Stringer, MS. She was born Friday, May 3, 1957, in Hayti, Missouri.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181.

Karen loved her flowers and being in the garden.  She also loved to watch her hummingbirds and plenty of other wildlife in the yard.  She loved everyone that she met and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  She was always involved in some type of community outreach programs, such as delivering fruit baskets to the elderly and participating in many other fundraising events.  Although she worked several years with Hol-Mac, she found her calling when she joined H&R Block.  Over the years, she developed special bonds with her clients and her teammates even more.  She spent many of those years teaching class, managing the office, and marketing events.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Karen will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ottis Eugene Cummings; mother, Vergeva Jane Trammell Cummings; brother, Robert Eugene Cummings.

Survivors include her husband of 29 years, W.T. Smith, sons, Joseph Allen Allgood (Preshia), Christopher Smith, Thomas Smith (Shana) and Timothy Smith (Crystal); and host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; sisters, Cynthia Davis (Tommy), Lynn Davis and Etta Cummings.
