Keith Eugene Bounds,78, of Raleigh, MS died Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. He was born Saturday, January 14, 1939, in Polkville, MS.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 25, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Raleigh. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Raleigh. Burial will follow at North Raleigh Cemetery. Dr. Keith Gordon and David Garner will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is in charge of arrangements, (601)782-4544.

Keith was a lifelong resident of Smith County and served in law enforcement for over 30 years. He began his career as deputy sheriff under his father, Mr. A. E. Bounds. He then served as chief of police and investigator for the District Attorney. He completed his career as sheriff of Smith County from 1980 to 1996.

He is preceded in death by his parents, A.E. Bounds and Gladys Bounds; son, Alan Eugene Bounds; and his brothers, Kent Bounds, Don Bounds and Ricky Bounds.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Nancy Bounds; son, Michael Bounds (Lynn); step-daughters, Angie Tucker and Lea Anna Burnside (Bryan); granddaughter, Victoria Bounds-McWilliams (Joshua); grandson, Tice Burnside; and siblings, Guy Bounds (Marsha) and Bobbie Moulder (David).

Pallbearers will be Brian Bounds, Kent Bounds, Ward Bounds, Bryan Burnside, Murray Farrar and Davy Moulder.
