Obituary

Lois Frances Chapman Williams
(March 22, 1943 – October 27, 2024)

Lois Frances Chapman Williams, 81 of Louin, Mississippi passed away from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. She was born on Monday, March 22, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Stockyard Cowboy Church, 4034 MS-15, Louin, Mississippi 39338.  Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181

From a small age she was deemed to be a caretaker starting with her sister who was born a year and half later. Lois raised her sister mostly herself even taking her to school and on dates. In 1960 she met her husband Howard Williams at a gas station in Birmingham, Alabama. Howard had to return to Mississippi shortly after meeting her however vowed he was going to marry that woman. A year later he got to keep that vow and made Lois his wife of 63 years. Lois was a very loving and devoted wife to Howard.  During their marriage they had 7 children and raised and fostered more children than can be counted.

After the passing of Lois's parents she retained custody of her sister whom she kept until her passing in 2012. All of Lois's life she would care for various people placing their needs above her own. In her younger years Lois and Howard where often the talk of the town as they both loved to dance and have fun.

Lois tired to raise all her children to follow and know God. As she grew older she would take on keeping her grand children. Everyone loved going to Mawmaw's house where they knew they would be loved and receive good home cooked meals. Holidays were especially looked forward to as that is when she would lovingly cook, sometimes for days, various specialties and deserts.

Lois was well loved in the community as well and would often bake various cakes and breads and make jellies and jams to give to the people she cared dearly for. As a mother she would spend many days hand sewing outfits for her children and practicing in various school events. To her family, was the most important thing.

However, she would speak her mind and would not tolerate anyone disrespecting anyone. She believed in fairness and would preach it. She loved life and animals and children and people with good hearts. Once someone would met her and know her they had no choice but to love her. Lois was one of the most amazing, loving, and caring people this world ever had and with her passing the world lost a true treasure but its her firm belief that if one will get right with Jesus she will see them again one day on the other side of Glory with Jesus and God.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ranald Chapman; mother, Frances Wolfe Chapman; granddaughter Lois "Lupè" Torrez; brother William "Bill" Chapman; and sister Estella Chapman.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-three years, Thomas H. Williams of Louin, MS; three sons, Hank Marlin Williams, Roger Scott Williams and George R.
