Loyd James Westbrook, age 86, and a longtime resident of Bay Springs, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Bro. Westbrook was born Friday, September 4, 1936 at Sylvarena, and was a graduate of Sylvarena High School. He was a farmer by profession as well as a welder. He will be remembered most for his Christian service as pastor of Jesus Name Church of Sylvarena for over forty years. He had a strong work ethic. Known by "Pop" among those far and near, his love for his family and many friends will be remembered for generations to come.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Williams Westbrook;  father, Perry Westbrook;  mother, Clara Matthews Westbrook;  brother, C J Westbrook;  sister, Betty Smith.

Survivors include his daughters: Donna Johnson (Sherman) of Laurel, Debbie Duckworth (J.C. ) of Bay Springs; Anita Noble (Richard) of Laurel, and Melissa Thomas (Jimmy) of Stringer; thirteen grandchildren: Wesley Johnson, Brooke Wagner (Dylan), Colton Johnson (Olivia), Christi Smith (Devan), Hunter Duckworth (Katie), Mason Duckworth (Ashley), Landon Duckworth, Justin Noble (Patricia), Joel Noble (Meagan), Jeremy Noble, Jake Noble, Jana Bradshaw (Barry), and John Thomas; twelve great-grandchildren: Dani, Kruz, and Livi Lou Wagner, Paisley Johnson, Rylie Smith,  Caroline and Cayman Duckworth, Braylee and Nolan Noble, Ella Kate, Reece, and Reid Bradshaw;  brother, Morris Westbrook (Opal) of Pensacola, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Johnson, Colton Johnson, Hunter Duckworth, Mason Duckworth, Landon Duckworth, Justin Noble, Joel Noble, Jeremy Noble, and Jake Noble.

Honorary pallbearer will be John Thomas.

Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements.
