Obituary

Margaret May Newcomb Carr, wife of James A. Carr, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at their home in Bay Springs, Mississippi. She was born Tuesday, September 25, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at Bay Springs United Methodist Church with Funeral Services immediately following. Burial will follow in Holder Cemetery in Bay Springs. Rev. Robert N. Armstrong will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181

Margaret moved with her family from Louisiana to Alabama, then Georgia, and then Florida, graduating from Miami Palmetto Senior High School in 1974.  Margaret first attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, later moved to Florida State University at Tallahassee, and then went to work in Coral Gables, Florida.  In 1988 Margaret moved to Mobile, Alabama, where she lived and worked until she married Jim on October 18, 2003.

Margaret survived progressive Multiple Sclerosis for over 17 years with the loving help of her husband Jim and their skilled care givers. Margaret was also cared for by her father until his death in 2017, and by her dear mother Jackie, who survives her. Margaret loved deeply and continues to be deeply loved by the many members of her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred W. Newcomb.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Carr of Bay Springs, MS, her mother, Jacqueline Newcomb of Pearland, TX, her son, Alton Carr, Jr. (Dawn) of Ellisville, MS, her siblings, Nancy A. Short (Steve) of Pearland, TX and Fred W. Newcomb, Jr. (Gail) of Atlanta, GA, five grandchildren, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
