Marie Miller Scott, 91, died on October 27, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus MS. She was born July 27, 1926 in Breathitt County, Kentucky.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 01, 2017 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 01, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs. MS. Burial will follow at Lake Como Cemetery in Bay Springs, MS. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Barbara Scott Hatfield, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at LSU of Alexandria, and her son James Miller Scott of Columbus MS, a retired systems analyst. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Seth Scott, Jr, and her mother and father, Mary Jane and George Collie Miller.

Marie attended Irvine, Kentucky public schools and Eastern Kentucky University. She served for more than twenty years as the circuit court reporter in the 13th Judicial District that includes Covington, Jasper, Simpson, and Smith Counties.

Marie knew the Lord Jesus as her Savior and was active in church serving for many years as a Sunday School teacher, pianist, organist, and treasurer at the Lake Como Baptist Church and a member of the Bay Springs Baptist Church.

She enjoyed reading, traveling, and trying her hand at various arts and crafts. Her homemade Christmas ornaments have been used to decorate trees both at her home and in other Bay Springs locations and her many scrapbooks chronicle her travels throughout the world.
