It is with great sadness that we announce the passing Marion (nee Witt) Simmons, 83, of Bay Springs, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at her residence. She was born on October 9, 1941 to Sidney Arthur Witt and Mary Alice Witt, in Kings Lynn, England.
Marion met the love of her life and beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Simmons of 62 years when he was stationed at RAF Sculthorpe base in England when he was serving in the United States Air Force. Marion was best known for her love and dedication to her family, her love of traveling, and her love for saving/sharing recipes. Marion was greatly loved by her family and will be missed tremendously. Along with her husband, she was a member of New Home Baptist Church in Smith County where she was Christian by faith.
Marion was happily a homemaker for the first part of her marriage and later was a factory worker until her retirement.
Mrs. Simmons is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Anthony (Tony) Witt, Edward (Ted) Witt, and Raymond (Ray) Witt.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert "Bob" Simmons; son, Wayne Simmons; daughters, Mandy (Dewayne) Rayner, and Karen (William) Pittman; grandchildren, Cassie (Isaac) Plunkett, Ryan (Kelsey) Simmons, Tyler (Braxton) Pittman, Nick Rayner, and Abby Pittman; great-grandchildren, Paige Phillips, Laken Simmons, Huxley Simmons, and Rowdy Plunkett; brother, Derek Witt; sister, Sheila Herrington and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM, at New Home Baptist Church. Visitation hours will be Thursday evening, October 24, 2024 from 5-8 PM at New Home Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Services with be officiated by Brother Charles Welch.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs.
