Mary Kathleen Downs Read was born October 26, 1924 to Walter "Shorty" and Lillie Downs. She passed into eternity October 15, 2022.

Graveside services will begin at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the David Read Cemetery in the Mulberry community. Rev. James Roy Killingsworth will officiate. Interment will follow the graveside rites under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs.

Kathleen was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Houston, and sisters, Maxine Knotts and Dean McCoy. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (John) Carter of Ellisville; and her sister, Monteen Brown of Bay Springs.

Kathleen is also survived by grandsons, Andrew (Jackie) Carter of Southaven, John Duke "J.D." (Christy) Carter of Ellisville, and Scott (Heather) Carter of Southaven; great-grandchildren, Annsley Carter, Ashlynn Carter, and Kay Lin Crumpler of Southaven; Sophia Carter, Ryan Carter, Cayden Kinmon, and Carlee Kinmon of Ellisville, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be John Carter, Robert Jones, Andrew Carter, John Duke Carter, Scott Carter, David Griffin, and Lee Griffin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the David Read Cemetery Fund, c/o Bobbie Read.
