Mary Elon Simmons, 94, of Louin, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Jasper General Nursing Home in Bay Springs. She was born on Wednesday, June 19, 1929, in Louin.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 1:00PM until 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Louin in 1234 Hwy 15 N., Louin, MS with funeral services to follow. Burial will be in the Louin City Cemetery. Brother Keith Ulmer will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home Of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. 601-764-2181

Mary was very devoted first to God, and to her family, and her church. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Louin. She worked as a CNA for 23 years, serving the residents at Jasper General Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Simmons; her parents, William Ivy Corley and Vicy Ritchey Corley; her brother, Edd Corley(Clara); and her sisters, Helen Fitzsimmons(Bernard) and Jean Reeves(Floyd);  her grandsons, Shannon Conerly and Robbie Conerly;  and her son-in-law, Joe Pat Bufkin.

Survivors include her son, Tommy Simmons (Vicky); her daughters, Pam Wilson, Stephanie Stephens(Dale), Lori Conerly and Debbie Bufkin; her brother, Maurice Corley (Valerie), 21 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brian Nolan, Jeremy Nolan, Adam Conerly, Jonathan Conerly, Nate Simmons, Zach Simmons, Noah Simmons, Hunter Stephens, and Josh Stephens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joel Wilson, Zach Williams, Jacob Schwer, Travis Sullivan, Mike Conerly and Franklin "Kip" Daniels.

The family would like to thank the staff of Jasper County Nursing Home for their care of their mother and grandmother.
