She served with her husband Johnnie for six years as a houseparent at The Baptist Children's Village to many of their 'adopted' children of whom they loved dearly. She served alongside Johnnie as pastor's wife in churches in Jasper and Smith counties. For many years she was an active member of Van Winkle Baptist Church where she established many lifelong friendships and taught G.A.'s and Sunday School. In her final years, she attended Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, MS where she was active in Fonce McFadden's Sunday School class where she developed very special friendships and was also a member of the Legacy of Faith Senior Adult Group, enjoying several trips made with this group.
