Merita Irene Waldrup, 85, of Bay Springs, Mississippi passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Jasper General Nursing Home in Bay Springs. She was born September 11, 1938 in Gitano, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs from 1:00-2:00pm with funeral services at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Holder's Church Cemetery. Bro. Brandon Anderson will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Richmond F. Waldrup, Jr.; parents, S.M. "Kink" and Bessie Irene Rawls Watkins; and sisters, Mary Nell Dennis and Joyce Smith.

Survivors include her brothers, Johnny Watkins (Elaine) and Steve Watkins; sisters, Jean Jones and Dorothy Taylor (Ray Williamson); brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Joyce Waldrup; niece, Melissa Windham (Johnny); great nieces, Brittany McCarty (Chad) and Morgan Anderson (Brandon), great-great nieces and nephews, Paxton, Maddox, and Lexie Kate McCarty and Blaire and Briggs Anderson as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Merita served as a LPN at Jasper General Nursing Home for 43 years. The family would like to thank the staff of Jasper General Nursing Home for providing care for Merita during her final years.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Windham, Chad McCarty, Brandon Anderson, Nick McNeil, Chad Watkins, and Thomas Ainsworth.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Waldrup, Johnny Watkins, Steve Watkins, Paxton McCarty, and Maddox McCarty.
