Mollie Herrington Stringer was born Christmas Day 1929 in Jasper County. She passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Jasper General Nursing Home at the age of 92.
Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from the New Home Baptist Church. Burial will follow in New Home Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home.
A native of Jasper County, but a longtime resident of Smith County, Mrs. Mollie and Mr. Haskel, raised their family in the New Home community. She was educated in the Bay Springs School system and furthered her education at Jones Junior College, where she received her licensed practical nursing degree and worked many years at Jasper General Hospital. Mrs. Stringer was a Christian by faith and was a member of the New Home Baptist Church for over fifty years, and attended as long as her health permitted. A Southern classy lady, she took pride in homemaking skills like sewing and the recreational enjoyment of tending to her flowers on the homeplace. The Stringers enjoyed traveling, visiting most of the fifty states in the union.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Rhonda McCrory; daughter-in-law, Judy Stringer; parents, Vardaman and Chassie Ainsworth Herrington; brother, Sonny Herrington; sister, Jan Hough, and her husband, Eddie Hough.
Survivors include her husband of 75 years, Mr. Haskel Stringer; sons, Douglas Stringer (Mary), Keith Stringer (Debbie) and Bruce Stringer (Christy); daughters, Delwyn Savell (Charles) and Gina Pearson (Mark); son-in-law: Ronnie McCrory; grandchildren, Shan Cargile (Mandy), Lee McCrory (Jennifer), Josh Stringer (Jessica), Carrie Tucker (Terry), Chloe Niemeyer (Kenny), Chanda Walker, Tanya Stringer, Maegan Stringer, Daniel Stringer, Mollie Guess (Josh) and Carla Pearson; great grandchildren, Douglas Lofton (Cassidy), Tori Tucker, Trent Tucker, Zach Walker, Alana Walker, Rebecca Gately (Logan), Luke Cargile (Samantha), Taylor Cargile, Hunter McCrory, Caroline Stringer, Cullen Stringer, Grayson Stringer, Mason Guess, Haley Robinson, and Candace Robinson; great-great grandchildren, Deacon Lofton and Darby Lofton; sister-in-law, Shelia Herrington; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 from 10:00 am until service time at New Home Baptist Church, 37 SCR 11A, Bay Springs, Mississippi 39422.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the directors and staff of the Jasper General Nursing Home for their care and love for Mrs. Mollie during her time there.
