Nina Lee Horn Hawkins, 92, of Sandy, UT, passed away peacefully on Friday February 9, 2024. She was born on January 19, 1932, in Raleigh, MS, to John Benjamin (JB) Horn,Sr. and Minnie Bruce Horn. Nina was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 62 years, James Graham (Jim) Hawkins, and her grandson, Cooper Graham Collins. She was also preceded in death by her brother John Benjamin Horn, Jr., and sisters, Alowayne Dowdle and Mary Jane Lester.
Nina is survived by her daughters, Beverly Randall of Hernando, MS, and Kimberly Delk of Sandy, UT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shaula Skelton, Lauren Smith (Jeremy), Mitchell Collins (Stefani), and Leah Siegel (Matt) and great-grandchildren, Kaelin Free, Gracyn Hankins, Karsyn Skelton, Barrett Skelton, Cooper Siegel, Graham Siegel, Doc Collins, and Beau Collins. Nina is also survived by her sisters Minnie Merle Boykin and Laura Kate Simanskey.
Nina was a long-time member of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi, and while living in Macon, Georgia, she attended Ingleside Baptist Church. She found great joy in her involvement with her ladies group at Fairview. Nina cherished visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always spoiling them with lots of love and good cooking. She was also an avid football fan, supporting both the Ole Miss Rebels and Mississippi State Bulldogs.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh, Mississippi, followed by burial in North Raleigh Cemetery in Raleigh, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, Mississippi, or Palmer Home for Children, also in Columbus, Mississippi.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh, Mississippi, for their assistance during this difficult time. They would also like to thank Crescent Senior Living and Memory Care and Canyon Hospice for all their love and kindness.
