Obituary

Obie Jerome "O.J." Phillips, 80, of Louin, Mississippi, passed away Wednesday, December 02, 2020, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. He was born Saturday, October 5, 1940 in Jasper County Mississippi.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 4, 2020, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel. Burial will be at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Kevin Parker will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601) 764-2181

O.J. was an avid hunter and fisherman. He served as a volunteer fireman for 30 plus years in Jasper County. O.J. loved to spend time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Phillips; parents, Otto and Mattie Elmer Phillips; brothers and sister, Elouise McClure, Melton Riley Phillips, and William Edward "Bo" Phillips; son, Otho Jason Phillips.

Survivors include his daughter and son, Christie Wade and Jeffrey Jerome Phillips (Stacy); grandchildren, Courtney Hollingsworth (Brandon), Austin Wade (Julie), and Haley Phillips (John); two great-grandchildren, Jackson Hollingsworth and Callie Wade.

Pallbearers will be Jon Tally, Edward Campbell, Larry Smith, Perry Beau Phillips, Walter Phillips, and Robert Scoggin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Dale Read and the Louin Volunteer Fire Department Members.
