Opal Ruth Gunn, 94, of Bay Springs, Mississippi, passed away, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Mississippi. She was born Monday, May 31, 1926, in Jasper County Mississippi.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel. Burial will be in Bay Springs City Cemetery. Bro. Paul Hand and Bro. Ed King will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601) 764-2181

Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a strong woman of faith and a staple of the community. Through her years she worked with the State of Mississippi Chancery Clerk's Office, Sheriff's Office, and retired with the Employment Office. Ruth was also the owner of LaPetite Antiques. Ruth's favorite hobbies included collecting antiques and quilting. She adored and lived for her family as their monarch. Her favorite advice to young people today is, "Have the Lord in your life- talk more to HIM!"

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle L. Gunn; parents, James and Ada Jordan; son, Ronnie Gunn; and seven siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Rita Gunn; granddaughters, RuthAnn Bell (Clint) and Millie Walters; great-grandchildren, Drennan Bell and AnnSellers Bell; brother, William "Shorty" Jordan; great-grand-dog, Sadie.

Pallbearers will be Clint Bell, Drennan Bell, Heath Graham, Barry Jordan, Mike Jordan, George Ward, and Don Husbands.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leslie Dunn, Butch Eddins, Jr., Tommy Smalley, Kendrick Blakeney, Keith Blakeney, Kevin Blakeney, John Fancher, Ray Robinson, Daniel Leavitt, Dale Mims, and Dominque Butler.
