Opal Read Price, 93, died Sunday, February 26, 2017 at her home in Louin, MS. She was born Tuesday, December 18, 1923 in Louin, MS.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at David Read Cemetery in Louin, MS. Dr. James Cook Read will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Bay Springs is in charge of arrangements. (601)764-2181

Mrs. Price was a graduate of Jones County Junior College and The University of Mississippi where she earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and Literature. She taught at the University of Mississippi for 5 years and later in the Costa Mesa, California School Systems for 35 years until she retired. Dedicated to providing an education to others, the Prices established multiple endowment scholarships at Jones County Junior College and at Ole Miss. After retiring Mrs, Price and her husband Wofford returned to Jasper County to live where she served on the Foundation Board at JCJC.

She is preceded in death by her Husband of 53 years, Wofford Reynolds Price; Parents Daniel Andrew Read and Katie James Read; Brothers: Daniel Read, Arliegh Read, Burkitt Read, Houston Read, Hugh Read, Ross Read; Infant brothers: Richard E. Read, David Watson Read, James Crawford Read; Sisters: Faye Read Haden and Dovie Read Newton.

Survivors include her Brothers - Ralph K. Read (Bobbie), Webster Read (Betty); Sister - Dahlia Read Reeves; A host of nieces and nephews; Devoted Care-givers, Lou Bender and Pamela Harris.

Pallbearers will be Scott Debolt, Daniel Debolt, Ella Debolt, Mark Read, Randy Price, Glenn Green, and Dusty Green

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to David Read Cemetery Fund.
